When can you apply for Honors College?
How can I apply? To be considered for the Honors College, prospective students should submit their online Mason application by November 1st. In the application, students will be given the option to apply and express their interest in the Honors College, so be sure to check the box!
Can you apply for Honors College after freshman year UIC?
The Honors College welcomes applications from first-year students entering UIC in Fall 2022.
How many people get into the UIC Honors College?
The Honors College welcomes around 400 new students each year, for a total of 1500 Honors College students. Over 330 Faculty Fellows, representing all of UIC’s 14 colleges, mentor Honors students. 30% of Honors students engage in undergraduate research each year and all do before graduating.
How do you get into UIC Honors College?

Can I apply to honors college after freshman year?
+ Honors programs that include honors housing put highly motivated students together. + The better programs allow students to apply for admission during or after the freshman year. They offer a second chance to people who were not offered admission the first time.
How do you qualify for honors college?
In order to get into an honors college, you have to be an excellent student. In other words, you’ll need to have a high GPA and great test scores to qualify for admission. Most honors programs have minimum score and GPA requirements that you must meet in order for your application to be considered.
Does UIC have an honors program?
The UIC Honors College is an option for undergraduate students at UIC who seek additional academic challenge and engagement opportunities outside the classroom. Members of the Honors College take honors courses or participate in out-of-classroom learning experiences each semester.
Does UIC accept late applications?
Late Application Process Undergraduate applicants who missed the deadline to apply may submit a petition to request a late application. Keep in mind that not all petitions will be accepted.
How do honors colleges work?
An honors program is designed to offer high-achieving students an opportunity to dive into their studies more thoroughly than they may in regular classes. A small group of admitted students is selected for the program, and honors programs exist at both public and private universities.
Is it hard to get into UIC?
The school has a 73% acceptance rate ranking it #45 in Illinois for lowest rate of acceptance. Last year, 16,501 out of 22,696 applicants were admitted making UIC a moderately competitive school to get into with a strong chance of acceptance if you meet the requirements.

What is the tuition for UIC?
Benefits can include special housing, early class registration, special scholarships, and research and internship opportunities. Honors students are not isolated from the rest of campus life. Most honors students take both honors classes and regular classes and participate in the full college experience.
Are college honors worth it?
College honors programs can be a lot of work, but for many students, they’re worth the effort and academic challenge. Although honors programs are more focused on academics, they also offer exceptional extracurricular activities, research opportunities, and valuable alumni networks.
Is Honors College harder?
No, Honors courses aren’t graded harder (or any easier!) than other college courses. A student who averages a 3.6 in regular courses will probably have a 3.6 GPA for Honors courses too.
